Get rid of Squirrels

Squirrel, Animal, Spring, Meal, Garden

Aww… they are so cute, until they invade your home and become a nuisance. Squirrels may seem cute but if they visit your home as a good nesting site, they could become real pests. If this wasn’t enough to make you wary, they also transmit diseases.
Why are squirrels a bother? Here is why:
· They cause structural Damage
Squirrel’s need space to nest, so a cozy section within an air vent is a excellent area to start their family. Any wiring that hinders them is chewed off. These bare wires can quickly trigger fires, which might not be detected until it’s too late. These rodents can also walk on power lines to get into your home, damaging those lines in the process.
Squirrels frequently dig up lawns while searching for nuts. Your veggie garden or fruit tree won’t be spared either. They’ll eat any planted bulb and will not hold back from feasting on planted seeds.
Squirrels are also known to sneak into houses and feast on anything that smells appealing. A hungry squirrel’s sharp teeth can quickly tear through a plastic jar of maple syrup or nuts, especially if there is a family to be fed.
How Can you Get Rid of Squirrels
If you’re like most animal lovers, you wouldn’t want to use inhumane tactics, such as rat poison or pesticide to get rid of these rodents. Fortunately, you can get them out of your house in a humane manner if you –
· Discover their Hiding Spots
First, learn how they were able to enter your house. Check for just about any visible entry points. Bear in mind, the holes may not be as large as you may think. Any opening in the attic might be an entrance point. Search for other potential entry points also. As soon as you have found them all, seal them shut with wooden planks or cement.
Ensure that the pests are out of their hiding place before you try to look for their nests. Squirrels generally leave to forage at mid-morning on sunny days.
· Live Traps
Live traps make humane pest management seem simple. Live traps can be set up in areas that you suspect the pests are concealing. The trap should close when the insect steps on the metal plate on the interior. You can check the trap the following day. If it has managed to capture one of the squirrels, take it to the nearest forested area and set it free.
Also, ensure the sort of bait you use in the snare is one they enjoy. The lure should be hung from their reach; otherwise they’ll just grab it through the sides and be on their merry way.
Nevertheless, using live traps may not be the best solution if the squirrel causing the problem has babies to feed. According to the Humane Society of america, wild squirrel babies normally die of starvation if their mother has been relocated or trapped.
Of course, you can’t always decide whether the squirrel you caught had a family. Abandoning the litter is inhumane. Therefore, if you happen to locate the nest, it’s ideal to try and get them from there yourself.
The infants are very delicate so it’s ideal to call an expert to eliminate them. Be certain that you employ someone that’s experienced in evicting squirrels and use humane procedures to get the work done.
Anyone who has ever had to take care of a squirrel understands that, behind that furry façade, there is an opportunistic pest. They love to chomp on seeds, wires and will even uproot your prized petunias for pleasure.
Every little chitter a shrub makes is part of a larger scheme to make you think they are harmless, but steal from the bird feeder when your back is turned. Putting up a fence around your garden might appear to be a fantastic idea but that won’t be effective if they find a way to go over that fence.
That, though doesn’t imply squirrels deserve a dreadful demise. There are humane and very easy tricks you may use to be certain that these rodents never trespass on your own premises.

No-see-ems are perhaps the most annoying pest. But what’s a no-see-em and how can you avoid them?
No-see-ems are a very small pest also called sand fleas, sand gnats, midges, punkies or other four letter words not fit to print. They are not invisible, but certainly small enough that you don’t know they are there until you feel their unmistakable bite. If you see them in sunlight, they appear like lint or dust flying in the air. But make no mistake, these lightweight, tiny particles floating about you’re there for only one reason – to bite you with razor sharp teeth and suck your blood. This can be the pluff mud at the edge of the marsh, in irrigated yards, and there’s a particular fondness for athletic fields and golf courses. If you are a soccer player, you know precisely what these blood suckers are!
This coastal region of the world is a joy until the glorious days of Fall and Spring when around dusk, you are repeatedly obscured by the nearly invisible bugs referred to as flying teeth. To the locals, the only real name is No-see-ems.
These bothersome pests are magnetized to your carbon dioxide as you exhale. They’re also drawn in if you perspire. Their favourite location is your hair as they burrow towards your scalp and begin to feast. Bites of no-see-ems are like tiny, sharp stings as though being pricked with a needle. Then the bites immediately start to itch. Only a few moments outdoors for a few can create dozens of snacks. And in case you’ve got an allergic reaction, may God help you.
No one is immune and some are like magnets. And the worst part is that in case you want to be outside, so do they. Beautiful days with sunny, mild temperatures that beckon us outside means these monsters will be lurking.
What to do? Create a personal bubble of protection with a safe, natural product known to restrain no-see-ems. You can spray yourself, you can infuse your clothes, and you can also create large areas without no-see-ems by placing the product through your irrigation system!
Take back the gorgeous days of Spring and Fall and control no-see-ems!

Ants in the house

It’s never fun to find that you have an infestation of ants around or in your home. Ants are tough to eliminate. They are very social beings. Like bees, the colony has a queen and a lot of workers who take care of her. She is the only one who lays eggs.
Once the worker ants are foraging, they leave a pheromone trail to alert their tribe they have located a food resource. There are tons of things ants will eat, such as wood, individual food, plants, as well as animal matter.
What can you do when you realize you have a problem with ants, especially inside your dwelling?
Find the Nest
If you suspect that the ants are nesting somewhere inside your home, you really need to discover the nest and get rid of it. If you see ants all year round foraging in your kitchen, it’s probable they are living indoors. Ants will nest by burrowing into timber. The nest may be inside a wall or in an attic. If you can find the nest, it’s very likely you will have to use a chemical pesticide to get rid of it.
When the ants are coming indoors during warmer weather, it’s a great step to seal as many entry points as you can on the outside of your home. Ants will have a tendency to crawl in at the base of wall siding, through pipe penetrations, and where cables enter the home. They will also use plants to scale up to window sills. Caulking and sealing any holes and cracks is a fantastic idea.
Cleanliness is one of the best defenses against insects. Wipe down countertops, clean up dirty dishes, and maintain crap covered. Don’t leave out food, particularly sweet food. Place grains, other starches, sugar, and some other sweet syrup or honey in tightly sealed containers.
Diatomaceous Earth
You may safely use powdered, food-grade diatomaceous earth along the perimeter of your kitchen counters. This literally rips through the exoskeletons of the rodents and dries them out. People who walk through it is going to eventually die. This does not eliminate the queen who stays home all day.
The queen must proceed. Otherwise, the workers are going to keep feeding her and she will continue to lay eggs. Store bought bait traps are not really that effective. There are sweet gel baits that you can place drops of along baseboards and in corners of counters. These drops will attract the ants. They’ll eat the bait and take it back to their queen. She will in turn eat it and, hopefully, that will put a halt to the colony. You can also create your own bait.
Be Diligent
As mentioned above, ants are very tough to eliminate. You must be diligent about maintaining after the infestation. In very bad cases, you may want to hire a professional exterminator. It may get discouraging but don’t give up because it will only get worse if you do.

No one needs itchy bites and we surely don’t want diseases! Here are 5 sure fire ways to prevent mosquitoes.

The more standing water there is on a property, the more likely it is to provide excellent breeding grounds. Get rid of standing water! Eliminate ALL standing water! Did I mention to eliminate standing water?
2. Avoid being outside at dawn and dusk.
Most mosquitoes get super busy at the beginning and end of the day. (Midday would be to hot and make it harder for them to fly.) If you must go outdoors, try to get it done when they are not there.
3. Do not wear perfumes, lotions, or scented personal products.
One thing is for sure, mosquitoes have very sensitive smellers. They’re attracted to the carbon dioxide we exhale and they also love human perspiration. Add in some scented products on your own body and it’s like a welcome mat. The only odor you should be wearing is a repellent. Wear light clothing.
Not really sure why this is true but it is true – mosquitoes prefer dark clothing. So wear brightly colored clothes and it surely helps.
5. Cover up.
Speaking of clothing, use a lot of it! These blood suckers need flesh and are much less likely to suck your blood through clothes. The less skin you have exposed, the less opportunity they must attack it.
So if you despise mosquitoes like the rest of us, take these steps to make certain that you avoid them as far as possible.
And don’t forget to get rid of standing water!

Summer is the season of strawberries, cherries, watermelons, melons and peaches, which are conveniently located in market stalls and are just waiting for your dwelling. The good news is that you do not need to use expensive insecticides that are harmful to your loved ones. It’s enough to try one of these tricks after throwing all the rotten fruit out of the bucket. If you require basic house cleaning, contact the hygienists to maintain your home glamor.
Piece of spoiled fruit
Put some vinegar and some very rotten fruit in a jar. Then wrap a sheet of paper so that you get a cone. Put its sharp end from the jar and be calm. Fruit flies will be tempted to follow their favorite flavor and will wind up in the jar with no right to appeal.
If for some reason the fruit flies that inhabit your house do not focus on the above baits, there is another way to eliminate them. Pour an unnecessary bowl of 1-2 palms of vinegar and add a few drops of dishwashing detergent. The end result of this lure is harmful to flies and beneficial to the microclimate in the fruit room. As soon as they land in the bowl, they will never get out again because the soapy liquid will prevent them from flying away. If you leave a bottle with a little of the alcoholic liquid on the bottom, they will be attracted to this scent. The narrow throat of the bottle won’t permit them to come out.
Pour a little bit of apple vinegar into an empty bottle. Close your throat by extending on it a piece of plastic bag or translucent kitchen foil and attaching it with a rubber band. Drill a small hole through which the fruit flies get into the trap. They can not resist the aroma that is borne by the bottle. That’s the reason one by one they find themselves in it, misled by their own greed. Furthermore, they will stay there forever because they are not smart enough to find the way to salvation. You could choose an opaque bottle or fold the transparencies so you don’t see what’s happening in the trap.

Deep dish pizza

Image result for chicago style deep dish pizza

The Chicago-style”deep-dish” pizza that a lot of people love was invented at Pizzeria Uno, in Chicago, in 1943, reportedly by Uno’s founder Ike Sewell, a former University of Texas football star. However, a 1956 article from the Chicago Daily News asserts that Uno’s original pizza chef Rudy Malnati developed the famous recipe.

The pizza’s foundation is straightforward. It uses a thick layer of dough (made with olive oil and cornmeal) that is formed to a deep round pan and pulled up the sides. The pizza crust is then parbaked until the toppings are added to give it greater spring.

Parbaking is a cooking technique where a dough or bread product is partly baked and then immediately frozen or chilled. The raw dough is baked as if normal, but halted at about 80 percent of the normal cooking time, when it’s rapidly cooled and frozen. The partial cooking kills the yeast in the bread mixture, and sets the internal structure of these proteins and starches (the spongy texture of the bread), so that it is now essentially cooked indoors, but not so far as to have generated”crust” or other externally desirable qualities that are hard to preserve once fully cooked.

The crust is then covered with cheese (generally sliced mozzarella) and covered with meats and/or vegetables like Italian sausage, onions, and bell peppers. A sauce composed of crushed or pureed berries is then added. Usually this is topped with a grated cheese mix to add extra flavor. On the typical pizza, about a pound of cheese is added. Due to the amount of ingredients in this style of pizza, it is generally eaten with a knife and fork. It’s quite messy to eat with your fingers.

In addition to Uno, additional famous deep-dish restaurants include Uno’s companion restaurant Due, which was opened just down the block by Sewell in 1955. However, a year before, in 1954, The Original Gino’s Pizza, located on Rush Street, opened its doors, and 12 years later in 1966, Gino’s East opened.

Chicago deep-dish pizza is known throughout the world. Accordingly, many Chicago deep-dish pizza restaurants will ship their pizzas, partially baked, within the continental U.S.

From the mid-1970s, two Chicago chains, Nancy’s, founded by Rocco Palese, and Giordano’s started experimenting with deep dish pizza and created the stuffed pizza. Palese based his creation on his mother’s recipe for scarciedda, an Italian Easter pie from his hometown of Potenza. A Chicago Magazine article featuring Giordano’s stuffed pizza popularized the dish. Other pizzerias that make stuffed pizzas include Bacino’s, Edwardo’s and Carmen’s. Most also make thin crust pizzas.

Stuffed pizzas are often even taller than deep-dish pizzas, but it can be tough to see the difference until you cut into it. A stuffed pizza generally has much higher topping density than any other sort of pizza. As with deep-dish pizza, a thin layer of dough forms a bowl at a high-sided pan along with the toppings and cheese are added. Then, an extra layer of dough goes on top and is pressed to the sides of the bottom crust.

At this stage of the process, the thin dough shirt has a rounded, domed appearance. This permits the sausage sauce to permeate through the pie. Pizza sauce is added to the top crust layer and the pizza is then baked.

Chicago pan pizza in Chicago is comparable to the traditional deep-dish style pizza served in other areas of the country, and baked in a similar deep-sided pan, but its crust is rather thick — a cross between the buttery crisp crust and focaccia. Toppings and cheese frequently go on the top of a pan pizza, rather than under the sauce as is traditionally the case with deep-dish and stuffed pizza. The positioning of the lettuce and cheese on top make the pan pizza selection similar to a thin-crust pizza with a thicker and larger crust.

Along with Chicago-style deep-dish pizza, there is also a thin-crust pizza unique to Chicago, sometimes referred to as”level pizza”.

The crust is topped with a liberal quantity of Italian style tomato sauce. Typically there are no visible chunks of tomato in the crust. A layer of toppings is added, and finally a layer of mozzarella cheese.

Chicago style pizza has a rich and famous heritage and admirers from all over the world. If you’re a pizza lover and you’ve never tried this sort of pizza, be certain to give it a try, I am absolutely convinced you will love it!
